Big Society in the North

A few of you out there will be aware that our CDX CEO Nick Beddow has been getting a bit of attention recently due to his Big Society presentation, illustrated using characters from the Noggin the Nog stories. A member of the audience when Nick presented Noggin to the Big Society Roundtable said that it was "one of the best presentations I have ever seen". On a personal note, it made me remember my childhood terrors about Nogbad the Bad... Boooo hissss!

Anyway, the bad news is that we are having to force Noggin, and his commentary on the Big Society into early retirement. I blame Nogbad. And the good news?

Coming soon: the Giant Gloomins
Created by Nick's daughter, Abby, we'll now be using the Gloomins (right) to explore the Big Society and some of the potential implications for community development, whilst throwing in a bit of humour (and, knowing Nick, some fabulous voices).

For those of you out there who have missed out on seeing Noggin, you'll still be able to witness Nick's masterful skills of narration, just without Noggin and Nogbad (it's SO much easier to get permission to use characters when you only have to check with your daughter!).
