Communication is at the heart of the Big Society ideal - its how we build community, its how we mobilise people to work together and get projects done, and its how we show the impact of what we're doing to funders and stakeholders. With a charity and community sector facing such unprecedented funding pressure getting our communications right has never been so important.
So what messages should we be communicating? how do we do it? and who should we be communicating with? how do we engage local authorities and funders in our work? why is local news now even more relevant to community groups? and how can digital media empower the communities we work with?
We at Media Trust would like to invite you to our autumn conference, Communications for a Big Society on 9th November to discuss these points and to see how we can all work together to get our sector as fighting fit as possible. The conference is being chaired by Mark Easton, BBC Home Editor and speakers include Google, Deloitte, Big Society Network, Lincolnshire Community Foundation, Department for Communities and Local Government, Groundwork UK, National Trust and School of Everything.
There are a limited number of bursary places available for small charities, community groups, and support provider organisations. Just email conferences@mediatrust.org and quote "big society in the north" for more details.
