Opening up the Discussion

We are keen to ensure that as many people as possible are able to engage in the debate at the Launch Planning event on 27th July. I will therefore be looking to co-ordinate some live video streaming from Electric Works.

As it could be that we will be breaking into discussion groups, we are likely to need several live streams. I will be checking that the Electric Works wifi can take this, but, as it was built as part of a high-tech development, it should do.

So, I am looking for volunteers to be responsible for live streaming from the event. We can do this from a laptop with a webcam, but I think it would be more effective and flexible if we could stream from phones using Qik, Bambuser, or UStream.

Could you therefore, please let me know if you are planning to attend the event, and are prepared to use your phone to live stream on the day.

If you have experience of doing this, that is great, but if not, and you are prepared to download one of the live streaming programmes and let me give you a quick tutorial before the event, please let me know. If the latter is the case, please look to arrive about 4pm.

So, you will need a wifi-enabled phone, with Qik (http://qik.com), Bambuser (http://www.bambuser.com) or UStream (http://www.ustream.tv) loaded on it. Please make sure your battery is fully charged. I think the relevant websites have lists of compatible phones, Qik's is here http://qik.com/phones

Please note that Qik and Bambuser have special applications which work on the iPhone 2G & 3G and are separate from the 3GS / 4 applications. UStream does not have an app for 2G & 3G. Please ensure you download the correct app for your device.

Qik & Bambuser also have apps for Symbian, Android, and Windows mobile phones. Please make sure you set the app to stream over wifi, especially if you have a limited data allowance.
